I started my journey into the outdoors at age 20, backpacking through California with nothing but a pack, a camera, and a dream of making a life in film and photography. My parents didn’t support that path, but one day, standing on a mountaintop, a small voice told me to keep going.
Life took me through its share of storms. I faced tough years, battled addiction, and in 2015, I put down the bottle and picked up my camera for good. That decision gave me back my life and my passion. I’ve been sober ever since.
I moved to Alaska over 40 years ago, and it’s here that I’ve found both my home and my inspiration. From eagles and bears to sweeping mountain landscapes, Alaska has given me endless subjects and stories to share. Today, I’m retired from my old career, but busier than ever pursuing my art. I also work with inmates, helping them envision new possibilities for their lives — just as I once had to do for mine.
My photography is more than images; it’s the story of resilience, discovery, and a deep respect for the wild. Through my work, I hope you see not just what I saw, but what I felt in those moments.
